KEWANEE AIR DAMPERS
Vortex-Type Air Dampers
Throughout the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, Kewanee used 5 different models of vortex air dampers. With this design, each pie-shaped vane rotates about its own axis, and in addition to regulating the amount of air flow, these dampers created a air “swirl” in the direction of rotation of the the combustion air fan. In the mid 80’s, with the release of the Kewanee-designed and built PhoenX burner, the more expensive vortex air dampers were replaced in production by the “shutter type” air dampers.
If your Kewanee boiler is equipped with a vortex air damper, OEM Boiler Parts offers the following 3 options to restore your burner to like-new condition:
- Rebuild your existing vortex air damper with factory original parts (depending upon condition)
- Replace your Vortex Air Damper with a factory-built authentic original replacement
- In some cases, we can offer kits to replace the vortex-type air damper with the less expensive Kewanee style shutter-type dampers we maintain in stock.
Shutter-Type Air Dampers
Most Kewanee boilers produced since the mid 1980’s used the Shutter-type Air Damper shown here. Burton Mechanical maintains a stock of the most common Shutter-type Air Dampers in stock, available for immediate delivery.
Many of these Air Dampers are produced on the original Kewanee tooling and fixtures in order to guarantee proper fit-up and operation.
With the original Kewanee Engineering and Sales records in the possession of Burton Mechanical, we can identify the exact Air Damper used on your Kewanee boiler, as shipped from the factory.
